Mail your completed application.
Mail your completed notary application to the South Dakota Secretary of State along with the $30 filing fee in the form of a check or money order payable to the secretary of state.

Wait to receive your commission certificate.
Upon approval of your notary application, the South Dakota Secretary of State will mail your notary commission certificate. Important: Do NOT notarize any documents until you receive your notary commission certificate.
